The Victoria Collegiate Cats Baseball Club was formed in the fall of 2021 and played for the first five seasons of play in the Canadian College Baseball Conference (CCBC) as the Victoria Golden Tide.

The team enjoyed some early success, making it to the CCBC finals in 2023 and players on the team have regularly participated on the summer rosters of summer collegiate teams like the Victoria HarbourCats and Nanaimo NightOwls of the West Coast League.

The team call Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park it’s home for most games, although games have also been played at various parks in Victoria including Lambrick Park, Layritz Park and Rotary Park in Sidney.

Requirements for Collegiate Cats Eligibility

To play for the Victoria Collegiate Cats, players must be a University of Victoria or Camosun College Full Time Student.  This means a student that is enrolled in at least nine credits or 4.5 Units.

In order to participate in any fall/spring game or scrimmage, a student athlete must be enrolled at the respective institution as a full time student at the time of that game or scrimmage.

This includes games or scrimmages against any other institution or program of any kind, in Canada, or in the United States. In order to be eligible for the Championship Season a student athlete must have passed at least nine credits between Championship Seasons.

He also must be deemed eligible by his Athletic Director or, in the event that an Athletic Director is not in place, by a third party as designated by the CCBC.

Exception: a first-year college student that is attending school in the fall as a full-time student will be deemed eligible for the subsequent Championship Season if he receives passing grades in courses that total only six credits.

Players will be expected to sign a code of conduct upon signing.
